MAGMA, a subsidiary of Mobility Electronics Inc., has provided a U.S.-based semiconductor manufacturer with its Split Bridge Link Kits PCI expansion solution for a current design project.

The Split Bridge technology allows the extension of a computer's main PCI bus to a remote location with bi-directional bandwidth of 1.25Gbps. The Split Bridge Link Kits are expected to provide OEMs with a simple and cost-effective way to integrate PCI expansion capabilities into their hardware designs. The U.S. manufacturer purchased the Split Bridge PCI serializer solution, under license from Mobility Electronics, to extend a PCI bus serially and attach a host PC to an external board with mobile/wireless applications.

"This manufacturer's hardware engineers have told us that Split Bridge is a simple, elegant, and cost-effective solution to what is otherwise a complicated and high-risk design," said Don Johnson, COO of Mobility. "This is a tremendous validation of the value proposition of our PCI expansion technology."
