Innoveda Inc. has introduced a high-speed, PCB verification system that addresses board-level design and signal integrity issues, as well as reduces the time, cost, and risk associated with the process.

The system consists of the DXDesigner HSD for electrical engineers (EE) and PowerPCB HSD for PCB designers, and covers the design definition, physical design, and design verification stages of board design process.

The system is also claimed by the company to close the gaps between design phases, enabling both EEs and PCB designers to work within their own familiar environment, without having to learn additional tools.

"Our unique approach puts EEs in the driver's seat, with tools that deal with signal integrity issues at all stages of board-level design. It also gives PCB designers a more complete understanding of what EEs intended, promoting tighter collaboration between the two groups," said Brad Griffin, Innoveda's high-speed product manager, solutions marketing.

The DXDesigner runs up to 100 times faster than SPICE simulator-based tools and transmits engineering change orders and netlists directly to PCB designers for routing. The tool also enables EEs to perform their own pre-planning and pre-route analysis without waiting for a physical database to be built.

The PowerPCB HSD tool suite manages high-speed constraints automatically, place and route the design in interactive or batch mode, and generate all artwork necessary for fabrication.

In addition, the company claims that PCB designers can begin placing components while the EE is still building the constraints, thus increasing productivity. During routing, graphical feedback helps designers identify the impact of changes, explore various scenarios, and route more quickly.

The system is priced at about $100,000.
