The SigmaRAM Consortium has announced that five suppliers, namely GSI Technology, Integrated Silicon Solution Inc., Mitsubishi Electric Corp., Sony Electronics Inc., and Toshiba Corp., are sampling the 18Mb SRAMs that conform to the Consortium's SDR, pipelined-read, double-late-write (Sigma1x1Dp) standard specification. All five suppliers expect the 18Mb SRAMs to be in volume production by third quarter this year.

The SigmaRAM Consortium is an industry group of SRAM suppliers that have joined together to set open standards for powerful, high-speed SRAM devices targeted specifically for the networking and communications markets.
