Maxim satellite tuner ICs occupy 6-by-6mm footprint

The MAX2116 and MAX2118 satellite tuner ICs from Maxim Integrated Products integrate a complete satellite receiver front end and VCOs into a 6-by-6mm QFN package, eliminating the need for 30V regulators, varactors, and discrete inductors and capacitors.

Designed to operate over the full 950MHz to 2.15GHz frequency range, the ICs can be used with most satellite demodulators for STBs. The MAX2116 has single-ended I and Q outputs, while the MAX2118 has differential outputs. Both are controlled by a two-wire command interface.

The company claims that the on-chip architecture offers guaranteed DSS- and DVB- compatible performance while minimizing the RF engineering support needed in production.

Both ICs operate from a 5V supply over a 00C to 850C temperature range. Prices start at $4.98 (1,000-up).
