NEC introduces 88-by-482-by-300mm SDH system

NEC Corp. has introduced the SpectralWave C-node next-generation SDH system that measures 88-by-482-by-300mm, and is targeted at telecommunication carriers, service providers using dark fibers, private companies, and universities.

Positioned as an entry model for next-generation SDH/SONET, the device can adopt any network topology (i.e. point-to-point, ring, etc.) and provide an easier upgrade path from STM-1(155Mbps) to STM-4(622Mbps) via modules.

The 128-channel device also offers PDH, Ethernet, and Fast Ethernet interface, and feature full-sized VC mapping to enable non-blocking cross-connect with time slot assignment and grooming function. It also features an NMS and 1+1 linear MSP/SNCP network protection.
