The Dreama 2 (part number: M65582MF-XXXFP) digital video processor from Mitsubishi Electric Corp. digitizes and processes video, chroma, and deflection while integrating a microcontroller in an 80-pin QFP casing.
The chip incorporates special functions for NTSC flat-screen televisions, such as embedded circuitry to correct "East-West" screen distortion and to adjust screen image outlines using velocity modulation. It also provides a three-line two-dimensional comb filter for Y/C separation, which reduces noise for enhanced visual clarity.
It incorporates four ASIC blocks for front-end analog, video and chroma, deflection, and back-end analog functions. This enables designers to input composite video signals, S video signals, and component video signals.
A M37273 8-bit microcontroller core is included to boost Dreama 2's on-board memory capacity to 60KB of ROM, 2KB of RAM, and 64 bytes of ROM correction memory, as well as providing on-screen display (OSD), closed caption decoder (CCD), and half-tone display functions. |
