The CS61884 T1/E1/J1 octal LIU from Cirrus Logic Inc. features the company's matched impedance technology, completely eliminating the need to change external components between 75-ohm, 100-ohm, and 120-ohm mode designs.

The company claims that this results in a simplified, single-circuit design that reduces component count and BOM for telecommunication customers, as well as allows manufacturers to support major international telecommunications protocol standards in one "universal T1, E1, J1" functional line card.

The short-haul LIU integrates eight full-featured LIU channels in 144-pin LQFP or 160-pin BGA package. Each channel has a complete Tx/Rx circuitry including crystal-less path-selectable jitter attenuation, full encoder/decoder circuitry, LoS detection, and Alarm Indication Signal warnings.

In addition, an Arbitrary Waveform Generator is also included to provide user-customized transmit pulse shapes.

The device's LQFP version is priced starting at $25.03 in 10,000 OEM quantities.
