Virage memory system to be integrated in Atsana processors

Virage Logic Corp.'s SRAM-based self-test and repair (STAR) Memory System will be integrated into Atsana Semiconductor Corp.'s programmable processors for multimedia wireless devices.

The STAR Memory System's capabilities are expected to enable Atsana to develop high-performance processors that are significantly cheaper than those produced using current methodologies, Virage Logic claims.

Targeting the multimedia semiconductor market for wireless communications, Atsana's array processor technology, combined with the STAR Memory System, aims to meet the demands for longer battery life without sacrificing performance. These multimedia processors enable wireless smart phones, PDAs and other handheld devices to deliver complex multimedia applications such as multimedia messaging, interactive video communications, video streaming, still images, and other rich-media content.
