Transcend Information Inc. has announced that it has equipped its line of JetFlash USB Flash drives with password-protection capability and a write-protect switch to ensure the privacy and retention of sensitive information.

Available with capacities from 16MB to 1GB, the devices integrate a high-capacity controller that allows a maximum data transfer rate of 12Mbps, with a NAND Flash memory. They measure 71-by-25-by-12mm to 87.3-by-30-by-14.3mm.

The plug-and-play devices are USB 1.1 and 2.0 compliant, and are powered directly via the USB port. They run on Windows 98/ME/2000/XP, and later versions of the MAC (OS 9 and above) and Linux (kernel 2.4 and above).
