RSoft Design Grp Inc. has announced the addition of an integrated Multiservice Provisioning Platform (MSPP) feature to its MetroWAND v2.1 MAN modeling tool, enabling network planners to determine when MSPP is most cost-effective for a particular network by creating and evaluating "what-if" scenarios.

MSPP allows service providers to deliver multiple services such as voice, data, video, ATM, and SONET on a common platform.

"Given the complexity of metropolitan networks, evaluating the use of MSPP can be very challenging," said Richard Cardwell, Director of Engineering for Cost Optimization Tools at RSoft Design Group. "We've made it easier for planners to model a solution in the back office, before the money is spent."

In addition to MSPP, MetroWAND designs and models metro networks for any transport rate including SONET, SDH, and Gigabit Ethernet. The tool is targeted towards service providers who need to evaluate the trade-offs between traditional and emerging technologies, and for equipment suppliers who need to identify network scenarios where they can offer a competitive solution.
