Simtek Corp. has received its first silicon-oxide-nitride-oxide-Silicon (sONOS) from Amkor Technology Inc. as part of their development, licensing and product agreement.

Simtek and Amkor have developed a semiconductor process module that combines Simtek's non-volatile technology with Amkor's 0.255m digital CMOS fabrication line. This semiconductor module incorporates SONOS Quantum Trap technology which will be used to manufacture both SONOS Flash and non-volatile static RAM cells for stand alone and embedded products.

The companies are scheduled to yield 1Mb nvSRAM samples in about six months, followed by production shipments three months later. Simtek's roadmap includes variations of the nvSRAM and FLASH memories as both stand-alone and embedded products using the SONOS process.
