Microchip Technology has debuted its PIC16F72 Flash microcontroller that features a 5-channel, 8-bit ADC and is targeted for small memory applications requiring analog functionality with serial communication and digital I/O requirements such as automotive body controls, automotive cabin controls, electric tools, battery chargers and consumer appliances.

Pin-compatible with the company's PIC16CR72 ROM and PIC16C72A OTP-based microcontrollers, the PIC16F72 offers 3.6KB of Flash program memory, 128 bytes RAM, and up to 5MIPS performance (20MHz). it operates from 2V to 5.5V and also includes a capture/compare/PWM module, two 8-bit timers, and one 16-bit timer.

Brownout detection/reset, watchdog timer, and In-Circuit Serial Programming technology are also included, as well as SPI and I?C I/Os.

The PIC16F72 is available in 28-lead PDIP, SOIC, SSOP packages as well as 28-lead QFN CSP casing.
