Tyco Electronics has announced the availability of the TRW250-180 radial-leaded PolySwitch fusea coated version of the company's TR250-180U devicethat provides resettable overcurrent protection for ADSL modems, main distribution frame (MDF) modules, and other network access equipment.

A member of the company's Raychem Circuit Protection line, the TRW250-180 provides a holding current of 180mA and a trip current of 650mA. It is rated for operation at 250V, 10A over the temperature range of -400C to 850C. The fuse dissipates 1.8W and a maximum resistance of 2 ohms.

"The decision to coat these devices was made in response to customer requests for insulated devices that can be used in high-density or space-constrained applications, where there is a concern about components being in contact with each other or any grounded surface," said Rodrigo Rubiano, Telecommunications and Networking Market Manager for Tyco Electronics Power Components.

The TRW250-180 device is available in tape and reel packaging for compatibility with high-volume manufacturing, or in bulk quantities. It is also available in resistance binned packaging for applications with more stringent line balance requirements.
