Computer hardware systems revenues in the Asia-Pacific region are projected to grow 3 percent in 2002, with a $32.19 billion revenue, according to Gartner Dataquest in its report entitled "AsiaPacific: Hardware Forecast, 1H02."

Gartner forecasts that PC end-user revenue will account for 74 percent of overall computer hardware revenue in the Asia Pacific in 2001, while server revenue is expected to decline by five percent from 2001 with $5 billion.

Further, shipments for hardware systems are seen to reach 35.98 million units, increasing by 10.6 percent in 2002, with PCs accounting for 60 percent of over-all hardware system shipments.

Additionally, Gartner says that China will continue to be the largest computer hardware market in the region. China has so far accounted for 42 percent of end-user spending. By 2006, China is said to represent 47 percent of revenue.

South Korea follows China with 14 percent of end-user spending, and Australia accounting for 12 percent of the market. Gartner forecasts that these top three ranking countries will remain the same through 2006.
