ERNI ships evaluation kits for high-speed connector system

ERNI Elektroapparate GmbH has announced the release evaluation kits for the Ermet ZD advanced differential pair connector system, which was recently specified by the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturer's Group as the high-speed data transport connector for the Advanced TCA architecture.

Available in a single-line (part number 163210) and multiline (part number 163211) versions, both measure the signal integrity behavior of the connector system and contain a male ERmet ZD backplane connector, female ERmet ZD daughter card connector, and special calibration structure PCBs, as well as a documentation CD.

The single-line version can be used to determine the differential impedance of single signal pairs, crosstalk between two signal pairs, transmission and reflection behavior of single pairs, and the propagation delay of single pairs.

The multiline version is designed to determine the multiline crosstalk between up to 10 signal pairs and to measure a connector directly at its pins.

The boards are designed to allow full de-embedding of the parasitic influence of the transmission lines and the SMA connectors on the board. This ensures accurate measured values of the connector system without any negative influence of the test fixture.

Measurements can be performed with a time-domain reflectometer in the time domain or a vector network analyzer in the frequency domain.
