Sirenza Microdevices (SMDI), a designer and supplier of RF components for communications equipment manufacturers, has obtained a U.S. patent named "Wide Dynamic Range Transimpedance Amplifier."

The new patent discloses an approach to improving the dynamic range of transimpedance amplifiers. It is one the pending patents filed by SMDI to protect its innovative fiber-optic component design solutions.

Sirenza's development efforts are focused on circuit solutions to meet requirements in both the wireline and wireless product arenas. Expertise with multiple advanced semiconductor technologies enables Sirenza to leverage its design IP to provide these product solutions for its customers.

"This technique is being used in Sirenza's 10Gbps and 40Gbps transimpedance amplifier product development fabricated in SiGe, GaAs, and InP technologies. This approach improves dynamic range of fiber-optic receivers while allowing high receiver sensitivity and low-DC power consumption." said Kevin Kobayashi, director of advanced design for Sirenza, and inventor of the newly patented approach.
