doubleBW daughtercard packs 'fastest' full-floating point FFT processor

The PowerFFT RACE++ Type-B Daughtercard from doubleBW Systems B.V. integrates what is claimed to be the world's fastest stand-alone full-floating point FFT processor, which offers 1,000 complex point FFT in 10s, including windowing, and 100MSa/s sustained throughput.

The card plugs directly into Mercury Computer Systems MCJ6 and MCJ9 motherboards, and operates seamlessly in conjunction with RACE++ series PowerPC daughtercards. It is said to be specialized in executing 1D and 2D signal- and image-processing algorithms on large data sets, up to a few million complex samples (1D) or up to 1,000-by-1,000 samples (2D). Standard operations include 1D and 2D FFTs, 1D and 2D convolutions, and multichannel filtering.

Daughtercard performance increases linearly by cascading and/or parallel processing, a feature which is fully accessible to the user through Mercury's RACE++ interconnect switch fabric, doubleBW claims.

Developed to meet the high-performance demands of bulk processing operations, the product, in combination with Mercury's MCJ6 and MCJ9 motherboards, is suitable for defense and aerospace, medical diagnostic imaging, telecom, instrumentation and measurements, and industrial vision applications.

The PowerFFT Race++ Type-B Daugthercard is available as a COTS product.
