The INT51X1 powerline networking IC from Intellon Corp. transmits data at rates of up to 14Mbps and allows users to share Internet access and connect PCs and peripherals by plugging them into power outlets in a SOHO environment.

Compliant with the HomePlug 1.0 specification, the IC integrates USB 1.1, Ethernet, and MII interfaces, as well as ADC, DAC, and AGC controllers.

The company claims that the increased integration and lower power consumption allow manufacturers to create powerline networking devices with significantly lower component and assembly costs and improve time to market, making powerline products competitive with wireless networking equipment.
