The TDA8270 silicon tuner from Royal Philips Electronics enables the complete removal of RF and filter parts, while combining the strength of analog and digital processing, to contribute towards the development of next-generation, digital STBs that support voice, video, and data services.

The device is claimed to be he first silicon tuner to have fully-integrated functionality for the cable market and has no external selectivity and few uncritical external components, making design-in easier.

It can be used together with the company's TDA8280 cable up-stream driver for return channel applications and the TDA8290 PAL-NTSC demodulator for analog TV compliance.
