Vishay Siliconix has expanded its Little Foot power MOSFET line of products with the addition of three devices that are claimed to be the first MOSFETs that offer sub-ohm on-resistances in a 6-lead SC-89 package.

The MOSFETs have a 0.6mm profile and 2.56mm2 footprint and are claimed by the company to allow small to medium loads to be switched with maximum efficiency in applications such as cellphones, pagers, and other battery-operated devices.

The single p-channel Si1039X and Si1037X offer on-resistance ratings of 165mW and 195mW (-4.5V gate drive), respectively, and can handle up to -0.95A of current.

The Si1040X is claimed by the company to be the industry's smallest load switch with level shift and allows a low-voltage microcontroller to control loads on a range of different voltage rails. This reduces component count for the power management function and frees space for additional features in portable electronic systems.

Incorporating both n-channel and p-channel MOSFETs into a single package, the Si1040X eliminates the need for a separate device to give a ground-referenced low-voltage logic input. It uses its n-channel MOSFET as a level shift to drive the p-channel MOSFET, which is tailored for use as a load switch.

The n-channel MOSFET has internal ESD protection and can be driven by logic signals as low as 1.5V, allowing the Si1040X to operate on supply lines from 1.8V to 8V and to drive loads up to 0.43A.
