Manufactured using the company's 0.185m process, the chip can be software switched between T1/J1 and E1 operation, operate at clock speeds ranging from 1MHz to 20MHz, and consume <180mW per channelclaimed by the company to be the industry's lowest.
The IC provides an E1/T1/J1 interface solution for wireless basestations, Frame Relay and ATM gateways, VoDSL and VoIP gateways, channel and data service units, Internet access equipment, LAN/WAN routers, remote access concentrators, digital access cross-connect, and digital loop carrier systems.
The QuadFALC V2 can be operated from a single 3.3V power supply, which allows for pin-for-pin replacement of previous QuadFALC versions, or, from separate 3.3V and 1.8V supplies. It is designed to meet both the short-haul and long-haul requirements of T1/J1 and E1.
Engineering samples of the QuadFALC V2 (part number: PEF22554E) in the 15-by-15mm PBGA package with 1mm ball pitch are now available. The PEF22554HT, a pin-compatible version with the bigger QuadFALC V1 device, is also available.
Both devices operate over the -400C to 850C temperature range, and will be priced <$35 for high volume quantities. |
