Virage delivers embedded memories to Agere

Virage Logic Corp. has expanded its license agreement with Agere Systems to deliver embedded memory technologies for Agere's AGR90 ASIC platform, which is targeted for communications applications.

Under the agreement, Agere will license Virage's Area, Speed, and Power (ASAP) high density (HD) embedded SRAM, manufactured using Taiwan Semiconductor Mfg Corp.' s (TSMC) Nexsys 90nm process technology. Additionally, Agere will license the Self-Test and Repair (STAR) HD-8M Memory System with TSMC's 0.135m logic process. According to Agere, it will use Virage's embedded memories to gain key advantages in higher yielding chips that deliver high density and low power for products aimed at growth markets in networking equipment and other communications products.
