Silicon Access Networks Inc., a provider of IC data path packet processing solutions, is currently sampling its network processor, the iFlow Packet Processor (iPP). The iPP is part of the iFlow Data Path Processing Platform (DP3) which is suitable for metropolitan/enterprise Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and Packet-over-SONET applications.

According to Silicon Access, a single iPP device can support Layer two to seven switching and routing up to 20 full-duplex GbE ports simultaneously. Further, designs using the Silicon Access iFlow DP3 family is said to use just one-third the number of components, consuming only less than half the power of designs using competing 10Gbps solutions.
