Toshiba LSI suits HDD-equipped consumer devices

Toshiba Corp. has announced that it is sampling its TC86C001FG LSI that integrates support for PCI, ATA, ATAPI, USB host, USB device, and I2C controllers, simplifying the design of consumer products equipped with HDDs such as digital video recorders and digital STBs.

Integration of a PCI controller allows the LSI to connect directly to the company's TMPR3927, TMPR4927, and TMPR4925 RISC microprocessors. The ATA controller supports integration of HDDs into digital consumer products and network equipment. Both ATA and ATAPI controller support a maximum of 12 devices in one channel.

The USB 1.1 host and device controllers support the development of devices that connect via USB ports.

The I2C controlleras claimed by the companyreduces of the number of pins used or the number of wires on a PCB when configuring multiple microprocessors with an on-chip I2C bus interface or peripheral integrated circuits with a serial bus.

Packaged in a 144-pin LQFP housing, the TC8C001FG has a 1.5V core and 3.3V-tolerant I/Os, and features a maximum internal operating frequency of 66.7MHz and 33MHz when using a 32-bit wide external PCI bus.
