The MIC5249 LDO regulator from Micrel Semiconductor Inc. is capable of providing up to 300mA and comes equipped with a user programmable power-on reset delay feature for power-up sequencing in microprocessors.
The feature allows the user to program a delay on the RESET pin that alerts the processor when the output of the LDO has reached and settled on its intended value, allowing the processor to come up gradually.
The LDO is also capable of alerting the processor when a fault condition occurs and the output is out of regulation. It is targeted for use in portable devices such as cellphones and laptops.
Available in MSOP-8 cases, the MIC5249 comes in fixed output voltages of 2.5V, 2.6V, 2.7V, 2.8V, 2.85V, 2.9V, and 3V. It offers a noise bypass feature and a transient response of <105s. The 5Cap regulator is stable with smaller ceramic output capacitors, eliminating the need for larger tantalum capacitors.
The device also provides current limit and thermal shutdown protection features, and is rated for operation from -400Cto 1250C. Pricing starts at 90 cents in 1,000-piece quantities. |
