ZyXEL Communications Corp., a broadband access solutions provider, has selected Infineon Technologies AG's standard-compliant Packet over QAM-VDSL chipset (PoVDSL) for its VES broadband access platform. The PoVDSL supports up to 65Mbps data transmission rates, making services such as video-on-demand, telemedicine, multiple-player gaming, and Internet access possible.

According to Infineon, the QAM-VDSL features high immunity to impulse and outside noise interference. It also coexists with legacy voice, ISDN, and all other DSL technologies

"Building on our experience in Ethernet over VDSL technology, both in the lab and on the field, we were able to equip ZyXEL with a fully functioning solution significantly shortening time to market. The high integration level of our chipset, which results in small number of external components, makes the 4-band PoVDSL suitable in terms of system footprint and overall costs," said Vincent Sun, country manager, Infineon Taiwan.
