Wolfson Microelectronics Ltd has announced the availability of the WM8726 24-bit, 192kHz stereo DAC that runs at supply voltages down to 3V and is targeted towards cost-sensitive applications such as DTVs, STBs, and MP3, CD, and DVD players.

A pin-compatible upgrade of the company's WM8735 device, the WM8726, also features on-chip digital volume control, improved linearity, and flexible data interface that supports industry-standard DSP data formats.

The 14-pin SOIC device also features the company's multi-bit sigma delta architecture that Wolfson claims to reduce sensitivity to clock jitter, low out-of-band noise, and improved sound quality with an SNR of 100dB and THD at -95dB.

The WM8726 sells for $1.44 in 1,000-piece quantities.
