LeCroy Corp. has selected New Focus Inc.'s 3.5GHz optical-to-electrical (O/E) converter for its WaveMaster 8500 oscilloscope to analyze fiber-optic signal data.

The 3.5GHz O/E converter comes up with a multimode 62.55m fiber input and is available with a GaAs detector for wavelengths from 400nm to 900nm or an InGaAs detector for wavelengths from 900nm to 1,650nm.

This partnership is expected to provide customers with faster, more accurate, waveform measurement and analysis across all communications wavelengths from 400nm to 1,650nm and across multiple communications protocols, including Gigabit Ethernet, Fiber Channel, XAUI, and OC-48.

"LeCroy's partnership with New Focus will enable us to introduce an oscilloscope into the high-end of the optical market," said Tom Reslewic, president and CEO of LeCroy. "We expect to continue to leverage New Focus' optoelectronic expertise in future SiGe-based products for the optical communications industry."
