Dow Chemical Co.'s Advanced Electronic Materials (AEM) business is expanding its Michigan manufacturing facility for light-emitting polymer (LEP) displays.

The first phase is scheduled to be completed in Q4 of this year. Dow expects to start constructing the final phase of the project by the end of this year and to begin pilot production in Q3 of 2003.

At the expanded facility, Dow AEM will continue to produce fluorene-based polymers that emit light in the red, green, and blue regions of the visible spectrum. The company expects to commercialize blue materials by the end of this year, enabling the manufacture of full-color display products.
