Vishay Intertechnology Inc., a manufacturer of discrete semiconductors, has purchased the BLH and Nobel Businesses from Thermo Electron Corp.

BLH and Nobel are engaged in the production and sale of load cell-based process weighing systems, weighing and batching instruments, web tension instruments, weighing scales, servo control systems, and components relating to load cells including strain gages, foil gages, and transducers.

Dr. Felix Zandman, chairman and CEO of Vishay, announced, "This acquisition represents another step in our commitment to become a major participant in the $500 million per year transducer market and an even larger instrumentation and systems market. BLH and Nobel are perfect complements to our previous acquisitions, Tedea-Huntleigh and Sensortronics."

He added that, "These four companies form the nucleus of our newly formed Vishay Transducers Group within the Vishay Measurements Group. Our intention is to continue to penetrate this market through further acquisitions and organic growth."
