ON Semiconductor has launched a campaign to expand its presence in the portable and wireless markets by introducing a series of devices that are expected to provide design engineers the flexibility to introduce differentiated products to the mobile marketplace.

Building upon its core expertise in analog technologies and micro packaging, ON Semiconductor plans to introduce its first power management ASICs (PMU/ASICs) and expand both its analog IC and MicroIntegration portfolios for the portable and wireless markets. Its product focus will be on battery power management devices, display drivers, I/O protection/filtering devices, audio amplifiers, RF power amplifier controllers, voltage regulation/supervision ICs, power switches, smart-card interface ICs, and ac/dc power conversion devices.

These offerings are expected to form a system-level solution that improves the power performance of cellphones, PDAs, and other portable electronic equipment, while reducing the board space required to deliver the latest functionalities. The company's first ASICs are scheduled to be introduced in Q3 of this year, while its series of controllers, mixed-signal, and MicroIntegration devices are set to be launched over the following several months.
