Toshiba EEPROMs feature 50 percent smaller packaging

Fabricated using a 0.65m EEPROM-embedded logic process, the TC9WMB1FK 1Kb and TC9WMB2FK 2Kb I2C bus-based serial EEPROMs from Toshiba Corp. are shipped in an Ultra Super Mini 8-pin (US8) package that is 50 percent smaller than current TSSOP and MSOP casings.

The TC9WMB1FK and TC9WMB2FK are arranged in 128Kx8 and 256Kx8 configurations, respectively and feature a 0.5mm pin pitch. Targeted for integration into CCD cameras in mobile phones, the devices require 1.8V to 5.5V when reading and 2.3V to 5.5V when writing.

Both consume 55A during standby and 0.5mA when reading. They have a maximum programming time of 12ms, withstand 100,000 rewrites, and have a data retention time of 10 years. Operating temperature is from -400C to 850C.

The TC9WMB1FK and TC9WMB2FK are sampling today at about 84 cents and $1.25, respectively.
