Chipmaker Primarion has acquired U.S. patent no. 6,429,630 for its power architecture for advanced microprocessors.

Primarion developed this power architecture to overcome the bandwidth constraints inherent in today's analog power solutions. This architecture is a power regulator system that supplies precise power to microelectronic devices which includes an array of regulators, with each providing a portion of power required to operate advanced computing devices.

The architecture has two key components for delivering precise power: a GHz speed transient regulator that delivers power to the processor and a MHz speed digital multiphase solution that delivers core power and voltage regulation.
