Omron Corp. has developed an RF MEMS relay that is capable of switching RF signals up to 20GHz and is claimed by the company to be world's smallest, with a 1.8-by-1.8-by-1mm package.

Manufactured using the company's proprietary MEMS technology, the device is 1/100th the size of Omron's G6K relay and features an insertion loss of <1.3dB and >20dB isolation. The RF MEMS relay requires a driving voltage of <24V and provides a switching time of <1ms.

The 20GHz relay also features Omron's proprietary vertical feed-through structure that achieves wafer level chip size packaging and requires no plastic, ceramic, or other type of external packaging.
