The ODS1000 optical distribution frame (ODF) from Krone can be used as a splicing frame, patching frame, or a combination of the two, and is claimed by the company to pack 240 percent more fiber-optic cables than competing products.

The device is used for fiber-management in corporate structured networks and allows floorspace in telephone exchanges and data centers to be reused or rented out as collocation space, said Eric Behrendt, GM of KRONE Far East.

The device supports all industry-standard fiber connectors, including small form factor LC, and can be mixed on the same frame using pre-terminated or on-site terminated cable runs. The ODF also handles up to 72 individual splice, patch, and splice/patch drawers per frame section.

Another drawer type adds in splitters and couplers suited for test access and management of dark fibers.
