White Electronics Designs Corp. has introduced the WED7GxxxATA33 DimmDrive single-chip Flash disk module with densities ranging from 16MB to 768MB in 144-pin SO-DIMM packages.

Based on SanDisk's NAND Flash technology, the module utilizes the 128Mb, 256Mb, 512Mb, or 1Gb memory components to provide the maximum in module density.

The WED7GxxxATA33 also utilizes a SanDisk Flash chipset controller, which is designed specifically for use as a Flash mass storage controller for SanDisk memory devices. This interface allows a host computer to issue commands to R/W blocks of memory in the Flash memory array.

The company's device also manages interface protocols, data storage and retrieval as well as ECC, defect handling, and diagnostics. The controller handles automatic power management and clock control as well.
