Altera CPLD packs 512 macrocells

Altera Corp. has announced the availability of the EPM3512A CPLD that packs 512 macrocells and is aimed at customers developing CPLD applications such as decoder logic, I/O interfaces, and control path interfaces.

A part of the 3.3V MAX 3000A family of products, the EPM3512A is claimed by the company to double the available product terms in a single device, thereby increasing the space available for new logic. Additionally, it also expands the available I/O interfaces by 32 percent over the existing MAX 3000A devices.

Fabricated on a 0.3?m, four-layer metal process, the CPLD provides 7.5ns pin-to-pin performance and frequency counter speeds of up to 115MHz. All MAX 3000A devices include an enhanced in-system programmability feature set that support both Jam STAPL and MultiVolt I/O (2.5V, 3.3V, and 5.0V) operations.

The device is supported by Altera's Quartus II v2.1 and MAX+PLUS II v10.2 design software and provides for seamless integration with tools from Mentor Graphics, Synopsys, Synplicity, and other leading EDA vendors.

The EPM3512A is offered in the -7 and -10 commercial speed grades. Packaging options include PQFP and FineLine BGA packages.
