Mentor Graphics Corp. has released an upgrade to its design data management infrastructure solution. The revision adds a new technology that serves as a central repository from which users can locate outside part information via the Internet.

Joe Krolla, marketing manager for the DMS business unit at Mentor Graphics, said Mentor's DMS2002 now offers the DMS-Xchange, a communications and interchange platform that provides a dedicated Extensible Markup Language (XML) link to third-party content providers.

The first DMS-Xchange offering is DMS-Xchange for PartMiner, which Krolla said is the result of a partnership with PartMiner Inc. DMS2002 users with PartMiner subscriptions can incorporate PartMiner component data into their company's library as computer-aided engineering symbols and component information.

"This will allow DMS2002 customers to use one search engine to access part information from multiple sources," Krolla said. Because the DMS-Xchange technology is XML-based, he said, the company can add links to several other content providers via RosettaNet, MERCI, and technology interfaces like PDX.

Pricing for the DMS2002 server license starts at $40,000 plus user licenses and installation.
