The KSU top-actuate SMT switch from ITT Ind., Cannon features a light actuation force of 0.7N without tactile effect and is protected against overload. It has a hard metal actuator, two large terminals, normally-open contacts, gold or silver contact plating, and lifespan of >500,000 operations.

The switch can be used in handheld electronic equipment including mobile phones, battery or memory cartridges, PDAs, and LCD screens, as well as tamper switches in alarms or in electronic enclosures.

KSU switches with silver contacts can handle 2.5VA power with a maximum voltage of 50V and a maximum current of 50mA, while switches with gold contacts can handle 0.5VA with a maximum voltage of 50V and a maximum current of 10mA.

Both switches offer a contact resistance of <100 milliohms, bounce rating of under 3ms, travel to make of 0.5mm with a total travel of 1.5mm. Silver contacts offer an operating temperature range of -400C to 850C, while gold contacts extend the temperature range to 1250C. Dielectric strength is 250Vdc.
