Seiko Epson Corp. has introduced a real-time clock (RTC) module that measures 5-by-3.2-by-1.1mm for use in portable information devices such as mobile telephones and digital still cameras.

Touted to be the world's smallest RTC module, the RX-8564CF integrates the company's Q13FC135 clock quartz oscillator and the Q418564 clock IC into an I2C bus-type, ceramic module.

The module operates from 1.8V to 5.5V with the clock requiring a 1.2V to 5.5V supply. It consumes 275mA and produces 32.768Hz output. It is rated for operation over -400C to 850C.

Sample price is around $11 each.
