A family of preconfigured PXI system chassis and controller cards from MEN Micro Inc. supports M-Module and PC-MIP mezzanine cards, providing a wide range of I/O options.

The PXI systems come in two sizes, a 19-inch 7U rack with as many as 21 PXI slots and a 4U-high rack with seven PXI slots. Pentium-based 6U and 3U MEN F7 PXI controllers are integrated into the system's processing platform.

"We have provided board-level components for VMEbus and CompactPCI systems used in instrumentation applications," said Ernest Godsey, president of MEN Micro. "Now we are seeing a great deal of interest in high-performance PXI systems."

The company's 7U 190007-00 PXI system has been optimized for larger, more complex applications. Its basic configuration has 14 PXI slots, but it can be configured with as many as 21 slots.

Fans inside a 650W open-frame power supply automatically respond to rising temperatures. The unit has additional space for mounting CDs, FDDs, or other peripherals.

The more compact 4U 190008-00 PXI system enclosure is designed for mobile applications or systems that are subjected to more severe environmental conditions. The rack is 42HP wide and 315mm deep. Power to the internal 250W power supply can be connected at the front panel.

Pricing for preconfigured 7U 190007-00 and 4U 190008-00 PXI systems start at $8,760 and $5,875, respectively. A base system includes an F7 PXI system controller and a Windows 2000 OS.
