QLogic HBAs to support latest interconnect standard

QLogic Corp. plans to develop host bus adapters (HBAs) that support PCI Express, a next-generation interconnect standard the company helped develop along with nearly 30 other companies.

Previously called 3GIO, the PCI Express, is a general-purpose I/O interconnect designed to address numerous application requirements for multiple market segments. PCI Express is expected to seamlessly complement legacy PCI installations and transition into the market over the next several years. Products based on the PCI Express I/O architecture are expected to emerge in the marketplace by 2H of 2003.
