Israel-based chip manufacturer Tower Semiconductor will establish an infrastructure for organizational data storage, as well as a remote backup site disaster recovery planning (DRP) using EMC2 Corp. products. The project is aimed at protecting the computing systems of Tower's FAB 2 fabrication facility.

For this project, EMC2 will provide Tower with a SAN architecture-based solution composed of Symmetrix systems and SRDF (Symmetrix Remote Data Facilities), a software language for data backup that enables complete synchronization between remote sites. Complementing this solution, the following software were installed: Celerra, a file server in the NAS domain, TimeFinder, for immediate data recovery, and other software for organizational data storage in heterogeneous environments.

"We searched for a solution to include intelligent systems for data storage and management as well as for data hot-backup, disaster recovery and business continuity," said Yossi Krausz, Director of IT at Tower Semiconductor. "EMC2 provided a suitable solution for the complex setting we need and for the storage of over 16 terabytes."
