Inphi, u2t develop 40Gbps photoreceiver

The XPRV2021 40Gbps photoreceiver combines Inphi Corp.'s 4334TA TIA and u2t Photonics AG's waveguide-integrated pin photodiode into an SMD package ready for integration into OC-768 communication systems.

The module has an optical-to-electrical bandwidth of 43GHz, which can be post-filtered, and is suitable for both NRZ and RZ applications. For NRZ applications, the photoreceiver exhibits an input sensitivity >-10dBm while maintaining a BER of 0.00000001.

The XPRV2021 operates at a standard 3.3V supply and dissipates <200mW of power.
