AcceLight Networks has selected Xilinx Inc.'s FPGAs for its PXS 540 family of Photonic Service Switches (PSS). Enabled by Xilinx's Virtex-II Platform FPGAs, the AcceLight architecture delivers integrated system support for SONET/SDH STS-1 optical path and MPLS label switching from 80G to 1.28Tb in capacity. Today's service providers can benefit from the agile service configurations of the PXS 540 to deliver TDM, optical, and MPLS switched capabilities for the wavelength core.
"The advanced architecture and flexibility of the Xilinx Platform FPGAs helped shorten our development cycle and achieve the breakthrough performance offered in our PXS 540," said Paul Chow, director of ASIC technology at AcceLight. "FPGAs are essential to delivering the emerging technologies needed to build a flexible multi-service system that allows providers to drive their costs down by up to 70 percent." |
