Linear Tech down mixer operates up to 3GHz

The LT5512 down-converting active mixer from Linear Technology Corp. operates up to 3GHz frequency and is designed for RF applications in wireless basestations of GSM, CDMA, and W-CDMA systems.

Available in a 4-by-4mm QFN package, the device is positioned as a high linearity alternative to passive mixers, offering a conversion gain of 1dB and an SSB NF of 14dB, both at 1.9GHz. It includes a differential LO buffer amplifier to improve LO-RF isolation and eliminate the need for an external bias resistor.

The device also integrates an active double-headed mixer, temperature-compensated biasing circuitry, and power-down enable/disable circuit. The IC has an IP3 input of 20dBm and 17dBm, at 950MHz and 1,900MHz, respectively, and operates over a supply voltage range of 4.5V to 5.25V.

The LT5512 is priced at $3.70 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
