The ST890 P-channel MOSFET from STMicroelectronics operates from 2.7V to 5.5V, making it suitable for use in both 3V and 5V system. The SO-8 device acts as a power switch for USB and high-side load-switching applications, and can also be used in PCMCIA and other access bus slots where cards are inserted and removed without turning the power off.

A part of the company's Interface family of products, the ST890 features internal, programmable current-limiting circuitry to protect against overload and thermal overload protection to limit power dissipation and junction temperature. Maximum current is limited to 1.2A, and is programmed by a resistor placed between the MOSFET's set pin and ground.

Other features of the ST890 include maximum quiescent currents of 255A with the supply voltage on and 55A when off, thermal shutdown, a fault indicator output, and a typical on-resistance of 90 milliohms.

The MOSFET is available with operating junction temperature of 00C to 700C (C series) and 400C to 850C (B series).
