Linear Tech op amp exhibits 0.95nV/Hz noise

The LT6200 unity gain-stable, voltage feedback amplifier from Linear Technology exhibits noise of 0.95nV/Hz and operates from a single 3V supply, allowing low noise designs to be implemented on low voltage power designs.

The company claims that existing op amps with similar noise performance require dual supply operation and lack rail-to-rail performance. The LT6200 achieves maximum SNR and dynamic range because of rail-to-rail input common mode range and rail-to-rail output voltage swing.

"The LT6200 is ideal for use as an ultra low noise preamplifier in low voltage signal conditioning systems where the widest dynamic range is necessary. Its unity gain stability makes it an excellent choice in PLL designs," said Tim Regan, applications manager for Linear Technology's signal conditioning group.

"Its 165MHz gain bandwidth makes it highly suitable for low frequency ultrasound applications and its low distortion -85dB at 1MHz, makes it ideal for buffering the inputs of ADCs or the outputs of high resolution DACs in applications such as seismic detectors and spectrum analyzers," he added.

Available in a 6-pin SOT-23 or 8-pin SOIC package, the LT6200 features a shutdown pin that reduces supply current to <1.8mA during standby conditions. Fully specified for operation over the industrial and commercial temperature ranges, the device is priced starting at $2.15 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
