MOSAID Technologies Inc. has expanded its Class-IC product portfolio with the addition of the DC18288 18Mb and DC9000 9Mb network search engines, offering glue-less connectivity with industry leading network processors.

Pin-compatible with MOSAID's DC9288 device, the DC18288 offers all the features of the former but increases the capacity of the device to 256,000 72-bit entries per device. The 432-pin BGA device is also capable of performing up to 100 million searches per second, making the device suitable for OC-48 and OC-192 applications.

"Unlike other implementations, the DC18288 does not rely on block management power down techniques that can impose significant restrictions on system designers," explained Romain Saha, Director of Marketing at MOSAID. "The entire CAM array can be used without restriction and still benefit from our low power technology."

The DC18288 also features a high performance cascading scheme that allows system designers to maintain full search throughput for tables of up to 2 million entries. The device can be divided into a maximum of 8 logical partitions to support multiple databases in a single array, while 32 built-in global mask registers make the device suitable for sophisticated compression applications.

Suitable for applications using commercially-available network processors, the DC9000 builds on the DC9288's feature set and integrates a Network Processor Forum LA-1 interface to promote interoperability with network processing elements.

The DC9000 also supports multiple contexts and an instruction set that simplifies programming in multithreaded environments. It also has the ability to perform multiple searches with only incremental modifications to the search key, allowing multiple lookups without consuming LA-1 bus bandwidth.
