The Portland Group Compiler Technology team of STMicroelectronics has collaborated with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) to provide its PGI CDK Cluster Development Kit package of compilers and tools for the upcoming AMD Athlon and Opteron processors based on Hammer technology and x86-64 architecture.

The x86-64 CDK toolset will consist of scalar and parallel Fortran, C, and C++ compilers, debuggers, profilers, tools, and utilities that is expected to simplify setup, management, and application scalar and parallel development for Linux workstations, servers, and clusters while maximizing performance. Significant recent additions to the Linux CDK are the OpenMP and MPI parallel debugger and profiler enabling the debugging and profiling of multithreaded, multiprocess and hybrid parallel software applications for Linux servers and clusters. The CDK will target the 64-bit Microsoft Windows OS for the x86-64 architecture as well as Linux for x86-64.

"The stability and performance of PGI's compilers and tools coupled with the simplified migration experience from x86 to AMD x86-64 technology stand to provide significant benefit to our customers," said Ed Gasiorowski, AMD's director of developer relations, Computation Products Group. "The PGI CDK toolset is comprised of efficient and high performance compilers and tools that will assist AMD in our goal of providing high performance, high-reliability computing solutions to industry end users.
